The Iron Cowboy James Lawrence on the 50-50-50 Ironman Ep.003

by
Taren Gesell

In this podcast, Triathlon Taren and No Triathlon Kim interview James Lawrence who’s better known as The Iron Cowboy.

The Iron Cowboy is not a professional triathlete, he’s an age-group triathlete who holds some of the greatest long-distance triathlon records in the world.  In 2010 James broke the world record for the number of half-ironman triathlons completed in a single season, in 2012 he broke the same record but in full ironman triathlons, then in 2015, he did the unthinkable completing 50 Ironman distance triathlons, in 50 States, in 50 consecutive days.

In the interview, the Iron Cowboy talks about how he found out he had a knack for endurance sports, how his first running races left him in a wheelchair, and how he was able to endure the physical challenges and actually get faster throughout completing the 50-50-50.
